What is XML or RSS?

Many news and web log sites support RSS by adding these icons as or to their web pages. RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a format for syndicating news. A News Reader is a simple programme that collects news in the background at user configurable intervals and warns with a little popup in the system tray that there is a new message arrived. You can click the news headline to see a short description of the news and click or open the original news web page in a Reader browser or default browser window.

There are many News Readers available online and a simple search on Google will find one. We have been using RssReader which is a free programme and an easy download and installation. It is also free of all spyware and ads.

To copy an XML or RSS feed to add to your Reader is a simple right-click on the icon and copy into your RssReader
